Research infrastructures are the fundamental environment for carrying out research in different scientific fields.
ARIS provides the conditions for the use of modern equipment, participation in international infrastructure projects and access to information and services that support research through various instruments.
This enables research to be carried out using modern methods and to be integrated into the international research environment.
ARIS (co-)finances the purchase of research equipment (so-called packages) through a public call.
Applicants may be public research organisations providing a public service in the field of scientific research under the programme or infrastructure pillar of stable funding.
The purpose of the funding is to provide access to modern equipment for carrying out research.
Co-financing is granted for the purchase of equipment with a minimum budgeted acquisition cost of:
- EUR 50,000 for natural sciences,
- EUR 20,000 for engineering, biotechnology and medicine,
- EUR 15,000 for the humanities and social sciences.
Through a call for the award of concessions, ARIS is financing seven infrastructure programmes for the period 2022–2027.
The programmes are run by companies or other institutions under concession, but are not covered by stable funding.
ARIS (co-)funds the implementation of international projects under the Research Infrastructure Development Plan (NRRI/ESFRI).
Funding is based on a contract for the implementation and (co-)financing of scientific research activities, in accordance with the guidelines of the ministry responsible for science.
Central Specialised Information Centres (OSICs)
Through a public call, ARIS selects the providers of the activities of the Central Specialised Information Centres for Research (OSICs) in each of the following scientific disciplines: natural sciences, engineering, biotechnology, medicine, social sciences and humanities.
The selected contractors will carry out the tasks of research information centres over a three-year period.
Access to international scientific literature
ARIS provides (co-)funding for access to international serial publications and databases, including Scopus, and for open access costs under transformative contracts.
The purpose of the funding is to provide researchers and research organisations in Slovenia with access to international scientific and professional information for the purposes of research, education and development.
From 2026, funding is provided through direct contracts with the Central Technical Library (CTK) and the National and University Library (NUK).
Since 2023, ARIS (co-)funds the activities of the Action Plan for Open Science (ANOZ) for the implementation of Measure 6.2: Open science to improve the quality, efficiency and responsiveness of research.
Activities include building open science infrastructure, organising IT support, training and developing support services.
The annual volume of (co-)financing is EUR 580,125.
ARIS (co-)finances the activities representing the continuation of the SPOZNAJ project from 2026 onwards.
This appropriation is intended to cover the activities of data consultants at public research organisations.
The total amount of (co-)financing up to 2030 is EUR 4 million.
