Competence development focuses on people and their knowledge. The focus is on strengthening research and development capacities and linking public research organisations with industry.
Instruments in this category:
- promote the integration of researchers into companies,
- enable early-career researchers to gain experience working in the industry,
- support the establishment and operation of centres of excellence in strategic technology areas.
The aim is to strengthen the innovation system in the long term and to strengthen the link between knowledge and its application in practice.
The instrument supports the establishment of a Slovenian AI ecosystem. The Artificial Intelligence Competence Centre (KCUI) brings together partners with complementary expertise and competences.
Purpose:
- promoting and transferring cutting-edge technological competences in the field of artificial intelligence,
- supporting industry, research, development and innovation activities,
- creating a hub of knowledge, technologies, services and experts.
Who it is for
The instrument is aimed at a consortium of partners with complementary expertise and competences.

The instrument promotes the integration of the research and business environments, with early-career researchers as the link.
Purpose:
- increasing collaboration between public research organisations and industry,
- encouraging private sector investment in research, development and innovation.
Who it is for
The instrument is aimed at early-career researchers and public research organisations collaborating with companies in a project.

The instrument encourages the recruitment of new researchers in companies and the strengthening of research departments.
Purpose:
- integrating researchers into the business environment,
- strengthening R&D and innovation teams within companies.
Who it is for
The instrument is aimed at companies wishing to recruit researchers and at researchers wishing to gain experience in industry.
