RDI Hub

The RDI Hub is a national platform for research, development and innovation (RDI) set up by ARIS. It brings together key information, opportunities and stakeholders and promotes cooperation.

The RDI Hub improves transparency, accessibility and integration in the scientific research and innovation system.

It brings together information on funding, stakeholders, events, support services and analytical data into one place for a better insight into the RDI landscape. This supports project development, knowledge transfer into practice and more effective cooperation between stakeholders. 

The vision of the RDI Hub is to co-create an inclusive and collaborative environment for the accelerated development of Slovenia as an innovation society. It strengthens the efficiency and international standing of the national science and innovation system. 

The RDI Hub is being developed as an integrated system of three interlinked strands: 

  • Web Hub 
    A one-stop shop for information, opportunities and support, bringing together an overview of funding, stakeholders, support services and news and events. 
  • Analytical Hub 
    In-depth insight into the RDI environment using analytical tools, reviews and publications to support monitoring and decision-making. 
  • Physical Hub 
    A space for direct participation and dialogue between stakeholders – through meetings, workshops, consultations and other forms of co-creation and networking. 

The three dimensions allow for a more coherent, transparent and inclusive RDI environment. 

The RDI Hub supports a diverse range of groups – from researchers and research organisations to businesses, supporters, public institutions and the wider professional community. 

It helps with project development, access to funding, networking with other stakeholders and a better understanding of how the RDI environment works.

ARIS establishes and develops the RDI Hub as part of strengthening the research and innovation system. 

The project is involved in developing a web and analytical platform, setting up an indicator system and data portal, upgrading existing IT systems and supporting stakeholder networking. 

The project is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan until mid-2026.

The initiative to set up an RDI Hub stems from the study Strengthening the Innovation Ecosystem in Slovenia. The starting points for the development of the platform were co-designed by stakeholders of the RDI ecosystem in the framework of a consultation under the umbrella of SPIRIT Slovenia. 

The process involved 50 experts from various organisations, who together shaped the concept of the RDI Hub and defined its key functions. 

The work was carried out in several thematic advisory groups, which addressed: 

  • the design of the web hub, 
  • analytics and monitoring of indicators, 
  • the organisation and operation of the physical hub. 

The results of this process form the basis for the further development of the RDI Hub under the ARIS umbrella.
