The providers of central specialised information centres’ (CSIC) activities by scientific discipline were selected through a public call in 2025 for the 2026–2028 period.
Their tasks are:
- participating in the optimisation of the methodological basis for managing researchers’ bibliographies by actively adapting the research evaluation system in accordance with the principles of open science;
- participating in the further development of the typology of documents used for managing bibliographies in the COBISS system for all types of digital objects and approving new typologies (in accordance with Activity No. A6[MD1.1].2.3/2.6 of the Action Plan for Open Science for the implementation of Objective 6.2: Open Science to Improve the Quality, Efficiency, and Responsiveness of Research under the Resolution on the Slovenian Scientific Research and Innovation Strategy 2030, Government of the Republic of Slovenia document No. 63100-1/2023/5 of 31 May 2023);
- monitoring and supervising the appropriateness of classification of researchers’ bibliographic units according to the current typology of documents/works used for managing bibliographies in the COBISS.SI system;
- organising arbitration in cases involving disputed typological classifications (in cooperation with the scientific councils for the relevant disciplines);
- editing bibliographic records by changing the typology in cases where bibliographic units have been incorrectly classified;
- managing the bibliographies of researchers of Slovenian origin working abroad, and of other researchers, including foreign nationals, who are not members of research groups;
- participating in linking the COBISS system with foreign information sources;
- assisting users in finding scientific content in the relevant field; and
- carrying out research activities required for the performance of the above tasks.
The activities of the CSICs are coordinated by the Institute of Information Science in Maribor.
