About the Agency

Presentation 

ARIS is a legal entity governed by public law, set up to carry out tasks in the public interest. It operates in accordance with the Scientific Research and Innovation Activities Act (ZZrID) and its founding act.  

It implements key public funding mechanisms for research and innovation. In doing so, it ensures internationally comparable evaluation methodologies, criteria and procedures, monitors the implementation of funded activities and ensures that the funds are spent in accordance with the law. 

It supports knowledge development, scientific excellence and innovation through various programmes and activities and promotes the use of research results for economic purposes. The overall long-term objective of ARIS is to increase the international visibility and competitiveness of Slovenian science both in Europe and across the globe and to boost innovation in the economy. 

The Agency promotes cooperation, open science, knowledge transfer, involvement in European and other international programmes, and contributes to the development of scientific research and innovation policy through data, analysis and expert support. 

The Agency's key tasks: 

Stable funding for scientific research activities, research projects, research infrastructure and equipment, 

promoting technological development, innovation and knowledge transfer, 

carrying out evaluations, monitoring financed activities and checking that public funds are being used for their intended purposes, 

bringing together stakeholders in the science and innovation system and integrating them into the European and international environment, 

providing analysis and expertise for policy development, promoting open science and visibility of scientific achievements and innovation.
