COST – European Cooperation in Science and Technology
COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is an
intergovernmental framework that fosters collaboration among research
organizations across Europe. It enables and strengthens networking among
researchers working in similar scientific and technological fields.
What is the purpose of COST?
COST aims to strengthen the European Research Area by:
- facilitating international collaboration among researchers,
- supporting innovative and original ideas,
- contributing to the development of new scientific concepts,
technologies, and products.
COST does not fund research itself, but supports activities
that enable knowledge exchange, experience sharing, and the dissemination of
research outcomes.
Who can participate?
COST Actions are open to:
- researchers at all career stages,
- representatives from universities, research institutes, industry,
NGOs, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
What does COST offer?
COST supports a wide range of networking activities, including:
- meetings and workshops,
- scientific conferences,
- training schools,
- short-term scientific missions (STSMs),
- dissemination and outreach activities.
How to join a COST Action
1. Submit a proposal for a new COST Action
Researchers are invited to jointly develop and submit proposals through the
official COST website.
2. Join an Ongoing COST Action
Each COST member country may nominate up to two Management Committee (MC)
members per Action. The initiative to join a specific action can be taken by an
interested research organization from Slovenia, which has national or European
projects that represent a source of funding for research in the area covered by
the action.
The process involves:
- completing the nomination
form,
- sending it to the agency by email to »glavna pisarna«,
- appointment by the COST National Coordinator (CNC).
3. Join a Working Group
Researchers may also participate in Working Groups within
ongoing Actions by directly contacting the Action Chair.
